Important: There will be a separate DSABC Technical Committee (TC) Meeting immediately following the AGM. All current committee members and any interested and/or qualified guests who wish to join the TC are invited to attend.

Board of Directors
Nomination & Election Procedures
The Nominations Committee is responsible for the nominating procedures. The duties of the Nominations committee as they relate to the nominating procedures are outlined in the By-Laws as follows:
Article IX, Section (i):
This committee shall at an appropriate and designated time during each such general meeting report to that meeting recommendations of persons to fill the forthcoming vacancies in the Board of Directors. The President shall then invite further nominations from the floor of the meeting. In the event of further nominations requiring a vote, the members of the general meeting shall select the new Board of Directors by process of secret ballot. If no vote is necessary, the President shall declare the nominees duly elected for the period designated in the By-Laws.
Therefore, any duly nominated and eligible candidates may run for any vacant positions on the Board of Directors. Candidates may only be nominated and seconded by a current member in good standing with DSABC. Only individuals who are nominated and seconded by a current member in good standing with DSABC shall be permitted to speak to the nomination.
2008 Elections:
¢ 4 positions available on the Board of Directors for a 2 year term
¢ Zone Representative opportunities in Zones 1, 3, 5, 8
Individuals who are nominated will be invited to submit a short biographical description and/or statement. A list of candidates nominated prior to 1pm on Wednesday June 11th 2008 and their biographical statements shall be made available to members via the website (www.disabledskiingbc.com) on June 13th 2008. A complete list of candidates (excluding any nominations received from the floor) shall be made available to all members at registration to the AGM. |

Election Procedures
- All DSABC members in good standing shall be entitled to one vote at the Annual General Meeting (herein called "Member").
- An individual may be authorized by a Member to cast a vote on behalf of the Member, herein called the "Proxy Voter." The Proxy Voter must also be a Member in good standing and may only cast one vote on behalf of each Member for which they have received authorization in writing.
- The list of candidates nominated prior to 1:00pm PST on Wednesday June 11th 2008 will be posted on the DSABC website (www.disabledskiingbc.com) on June 13th 2008.
- The Nominating Committee will make their report at the Annual General Meeting including recommendations for elections.
- The President will call for any further nominations from the floor of the meeting. Candidates may only be nominated and seconded by Members. Candidates may accept or decline a nomination from the floor, and are given the opportunity to speak to the membership to provide a brief biographical background. (3 minutes maximum speaking time)
- When nominations from the floor are completed, ballots shall be distributed to Members and a secret vote conducted. Members shall vote for the appropriate number of vacancies that are available in that year.
- The Nominations Committee shall validate and tabulate all ballots cast. Any ballot that does not conform to the outlined procedures will be considered invalid and that vote shall not be counted. The Candidates with the greatest number of votes shall be successful.
- In the case of a tie, a second secret ballot shall be held with only the tied names being available for the vote.
- The President shall announce the successful candidates. Successful candidates will meet following the AGM.

The Disabled Skiers Association of BC believes people with any disability have the right, and an equal opportunity, to participate in the sports of skiing and snowboarding to the level that they choose, thereby contributing to their overall quality of life, health and the community.
The DSABC provides learn-to-ski programs for students of all ages with a variety of disabilities in Alpine, Nordic and Snowboarding disciplines. Disabilities include: amputee; cerebral palsy; hearing impaired; mentally challenged; brain injury visually impaired; and spinal cord injury. The DSABC also provides clinics for instructors, pre-conditioning sessions and opportunities for competitive racing.

DSABC promotes and provides skiing (Alpine & Nordic) and snowboarding programs and services to all persons in British Columbia with a disability. DSABC is dedicated to promoting and facilitating the delivery of superior services to our membership and stakeholders.
