About DSABC

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND

The Disabled Skiers Association of British Columbia (DSABC), established in 1973 as a charitable non-profit organization, aims to promote the sport of skiing as a form of recreation and rehabilitation for all participants, contributing to an overall active and healthy lifestyle.

VOLUNTEER BASE

The Disabled Skiers Association of BC relies on a strong volunteer base; we employ only 2 full-time and 2 part-time paid staff. Individuals volunteer as ski instructors, coaches, administrators, fundraisers, and on the Board of Directors. If you have any questions about what YOU can do to help, please contact us.

MISSION STATEMENT:

DSABC promotes and provides skiing and snowboarding programs and services to all persons in British Columbia with a disability. DSABC is dedicated to promoting and
facilitating the delivery of superior services to our membership and stakeholders.

VISION STATEMENT:

The DSABC Vision describes our preferred future. It is our focus for the duration of this plan and beyond. We work towards DSABC being a provincial leader in the development of athletes, coaches and officials in British Columbia in adapted snow sports, recognized for the high level of excellence achieved by its athletes at all levels of competition and for the enhanced quality of life experienced by its recreational participants. We see Zones throughout the province that are fully functional, working interdependently, supporting each other and building on each other’s strengths. In this preferred future, all zones benefit from a diverse funding base, disseminated through the central office using well communicated policies and procedures. This strategic plan sets out the steps to be taken by DSABC to realize this vision.

KEY OBJECTIVES:

In order to realize the vision of DSABC, our key strategic objectives include:

  • Improving Member Services
  • Encouraging Excellence
  • Developing Professionalism
  • Promoting Collaboration
  • Encouraging Increased Revenues
