Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP)

Adaptive Sports at Sun Peaks (ASSP) mission is the development of adapted sports programs to make alpine winter and summer recreation accessible to everyone.  
 
Our goal is to provide people with a wide range of disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports and recreation programs alongside other able-bodied people. 

Our primary focus is to serve the needs of disabled people in the community of Kamloops and surrounding areas, as well as visitors to Sun Peaks Resort.

How To Book A Lesson

Prospective students can contact us either via our website, email or phone, following which a Student Registration Package will be emailed to them. Lessons are available for stand-up skiers and snowboarders as well as sit ski. Lessons are generally provided in an 8 week lesson set that begins in early January. More casual lessons are available with a minimum of 48 hours notice, and are available based on volunteer instructor availability. Adaptive equipment is provided free of charge to students during a lesson.

Is there a fee charged for lessons? There is no charge for students who are residents of the Thompson/Nicola Regional District. Lessons would be provided by CADS certified volunteer instructors with ASSP. Students from outside that geographic area will be directed to the Sun Peaks Resort Snowsports School for CADS lessons, for which there would be a fee.

Lift Ticket Pricing

With a DSABC membership, students are entitled to a day pass for $10 or a season’s pass for $100.

Caregiver/parent with a DSABC membership would be entitled to a 50% discount on a day pass if they will be on hill with the student.


DSABC member volunteers who commit 100 hours on hill are entitled to a complimentary season’s pass. Part-time volunteer opportunities are available, with the ability to earn a complimentary day pass for each 8 hours of on hill volunteering.
